According to preliminary police reports, the incident occurred shortly after midnight at approximately 12:05 a.m. when a white Nissan Sentra, occupied by 27-year-old Monifer Carrie of Beetham Gardens, Port of Spain, and 30-year-old Isaiah Cruickshank, also known as “Touchy” of Manahambre Road, was traveling along Malgretoute Road. Investigators stated that the vehicle was intercepted near Manahambre Branch Road when another car reportedly blocked its path.

Law enforcement officials allege that two armed individuals exited the second vehicle and opened fire on the occupants, discharging multiple rounds into the Nissan before fleeing the scene. The attack is being treated as a coordinated ambush.

A relative who arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting discovered Carrie unresponsive on the roadway. Emergency medical personnel transported both victims to the Princes Town Health Facility, where Carrie was pronounced deceased at approximately 12:36 a.m. Cruickshank sustained multiple gunshot injuries and was subsequently transferred to San Fernando General Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three, are continuing to pursue leads. The motive for the attack has not yet been established, and no arrests have been made as of this report.
